Portrait Drawing
Wednesday, March 17
10:00-3:00
Instructor Gary Godbee
$85 members; $105 guests
Workshop #127: The foundation of a painted portrait is a solid understanding of how to render a likeness through drawing. In this one-day workshop, students will work from a live model as they explore the major forms of the head and the individual features of the face. The goal of the workshop is for each student to gain stronger control of form and value as they complete a realistic portrait drawing in one session. They will create heightened drawings using hard and soft pencils and white chalk on toned paper. This technique allows the artist to more eaily work on both the highlights and the shadow areas of the form in order to produce a convincing illusion of 3-dimensional space. Model fee included.
